Social Emotional Learning Support

Bryan Sablan is a member of the elementary and middle school after care program, while also providing social-emotional learning (SEL) support for 1st through 8th grade students. Bryan worked for a decade in outdoor education, teaching children to develop a love of and respect for nature. During this time, he developed the social-emotional curriculum and protocols for the organization for which he worked, supporting children’s SEL growth and skill building. Through this work, he helped children resolve conflicts, learn emotional regulation, and develop greater confidence in social situations. In 2016-17, Bryan trained with Playworks, which helps children learn social emotional strategies through play and recreation. He subsequently brought this program to Title 1 public schools in the San Jose area, serving as a recess coach, fostering positive interactions among peers. Bryan also has been trained in imparting social skills and related strategies to neurodivergent children. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoy cooking, crafting, working out and playing board games.
