Nargees Jumahan is an upper elementary teacher who works with students to empower, encourage, and inspire them to take charge of their education and become global citizens. Nargees has a passion for social justice and developing mindful and caring citizens. Nargees holds her Elementary I and II credentials from St. Mary’s College and has worked in a variety of educational settings as an adult. Nargees has taught at CASA rooftop of San Francisco, Golden Oak Montessori of Hayward, and the Child Unique Montessori School of Alameda. Nargees was the recipient of the esteemed Horace Mann Fellowship from Antioch College from 2011-2015. Prior to joining VMS, she has co-founded a nonprofit organization to work with orphaned children and opened a women’s community center in Afghanistan, & taught underprivileged youth in Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh. She has also traveled as an artist internationally. Nargees holds a Bachelor of Arts & History from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and spends her free time painting, gardening, and writing her memoirs.
